    RESIDENTIAL

We previously had installed other, acrylic interior storm window panels but they weren’t operable. I kept searching the internet until I found QUANTAPANEL, which at first sounded too good to be true, so I initially only ordered two. Two years later every single window in my house is outfitted with the QUANTAPANEL System, which not only resulted in a drop of heating cost of around 50%, it also added to the overall comfort level.  Not just because there is zero draft anymore, but because of the sound barrier they provide. We live in the city, and previously, when the garbage truck would come by at night I would be rattled out of my sleep, now I just notice the next morning that the bag has been picked up. I truly recommend QUANTAPANEL Architectural Low-e Storm Windows.

My goal is to have an energy efficient old house as opposed to just an old house.

As a historic preservationist, I absolutely would not ever consider replacing the original windows of the home.  I really feel that they are a very integral part of what gives a house it’s personality and character.

I really feel that this is a solution for people with historic homes who want to preserve the character of their house and yet have some creature comforts and some financial benefits that you would be lacking in a historic home.

Our home is an English Tudor, built in 1926 and located in a northern suburb of Philadelphia. The home has over 170 original wood windows that are in reasonably good condition, but a prior owner installed an interior storm window before our purchase of the property. The old storm windows were unattractive, and in many cases, non-functional.

We selected the QUANTAPANEL 600 Series Interior System so that we could maintain the home’s original windows and achieve the energy and comfort benefit that would otherwise be attainable with EnergyStar replacement windows. We completed a partial installation in the Spring of 2016. With this many windows, the project needed to be done in phases. The QUANTAPANEL Interior System installs on the interior, and the low profile design makes it nearly indistinguishable from the original window. The windows that have been completed look great, and we now have screens in those which we choose to open.

While we have not yet gone through a heating season, we did notice an improvement in cooling this summer. We are expecting to see an improvement in energy savings during the heating season, and will look forward to finishing the project as soon as possible.

My husband and I own an apartment located in a historic, residential section of Center City Philadelphia. The apartment has a number of windows and French Doors that overlook a small, picturesque city garden. We were searching for a solution to improve the energy and comfort issues of our existing windows and became aware of the QUANTAPANEL technology. We decided it might be the best solution to improve comfort and save energy.

The home’s existing windows leaked air which created drafts, making them uncomfortable and contributing to high energy bills. Replacing the windows and doors is not an option, given the fact that our apartment resides within a historic district. We were searching for a solution when we received a recommendation from a weatherization expert to consider the interior QUANTAPANEL System. In the Fall of 2014, we installed the QUANTAPANEL 600 Series in several rooms of the apartment.

The improvement was substantial. Drafts and noise were reduced considerably and rooms with large windows were no longer as uncomfortable. The room-to-room temperature became more consistent, and we noticed a decrease in our utility bill, most especially during the winter. We sought a solution that was attractive which would add to the value of the property, and I believe we achieved just that.

In 2016, we completed the rest of the apartment so that all of our windows now have the QUANTAPANEL Interior System. This is an ideal solution for improving windows in a condo or apartment where historic requirements or restrictive covenants limit what can be done from the exterior.

The QUANTAPANEL window system was installed in my apartment in February 2013. We had been looking for a way to solve the problems with our windows and improve the comfort in our apartment.

We had cold, drafty rooms and our heat pumps would operate non-stop when the temperature outside gets very cold. After installing the QUANTAPANEL System, we have eliminated the drafts and achieved a very uniform temperature throughout the apartment. In fact, I can turn the heat pump off in rooms that are not occupied without those rooms getting extremely cold in the winter.

The QUANTAPANEL window system is easy to operate and was installed with a trim kit that makes the windows in the apartment more attractive.

We have noticed a reduction in our electric bill in both the winter and summer. The other benefit we were not expecting is the reduction in outside noise. Our apartment is much quieter now.

After living with the new QUANTAPANELs for a couple of months now, I am astonished by the difference and I only wish I had put them in 5 years ago when I first bought the home. Noise is down substantially, as is dust and drafts, and my power bills have fallen substantially as well. I’ll continue to preach their virtues to my neighbors and hope you get a lot more business up here.”

I installed QUANTAPANELs on my home, a historic property built in 1833. As a sub-contractor, I wanted to personally test the benefits of this new technology before recommending it to prospective customers. There has been a substantial difference in comfort. Equally important, the low profile design of this product makes it indistinguishable from my existing windows—a critical consideration to the historic commission. I have the energy benefits of the QUANTAPANEL system and the beauty of my original windows.

BECKER+BECKER is a developer, planner, and architect of multifamily properties with a focus on projects that are social and environmental game-changers: restoring underutilized historic buildings and transforming urban sites to enrich and revitalize communities. We pride ourselves on finding creative interdisciplinary solutions to complex urban challenges through a fully integrated design and development process.

We selected QUANTA to assist us in developing a solution for a window retrofit in an adaptive reuse project in Hartford, CT. This project, completed in the fall of 2015, was the adaptive re-use of a vacant, mid-century 26 story office building that was the former headquarters for Hartford National Bank & Trust Company. We targeted LEED Platinum certification in the building with a goal of achieving 45% higher energy efficiency than code requirements. The property has been transformed into a 285 unit modern apartment building. The exterior envelope of the building is pre-cast with large monolithic windows. Aesthetically, the windows provide breath-taking views of Hartford, which is one of the properties most distinguishing features. From a functional standpoint, we needed a solution which would improve the energy performance and associated comfort issues, but would also be acceptable from a historic preservation perspective.

We worked in partnership with QUANTA to develop, test, commercialize and install an interior architectural low-e storm window system that improved the window performance to be nearly equivalent to that of full replacement. This building envelope measure is a substantial contributor to the energy performance of the building. The system installs on the interior of the existing windows. In addition to the energy performance and comfort, we noticed a noteworthy improvement in exterior noise transmission which is also a critical consideration in a center-city residential property.

My company develops and operates single family and multifamily rental properties. We selected the QUANTAPANEL Window System for an adaptive reuse project in Chester, PA. We acquired a vacant 1930’s-era stone middle school, and we converted it into an upscale apartment building.

From a design standpoint, we wanted to retain as much of the historic character of the original building as possible, but at the same time needed to provide residents the benefits available in comparable new construction properties. We retained or utilized as much of the original structure as possible; for example, using the original black boards for common area entrance flooring. The existing windows were in reasonably good shape, but would have been unacceptable to residents from a comfort and energy perspective. We selected the QUANTAPANEL 600 Series for installation on the interior.

The QUANTAPANEL System looks great installed with the original windows. Equally important, we achieved the energy savings and comfort that we expected. The real surprise — which was somewhat unexpected — was the improvement in acoustical performance. When the QUANTAPANEL windows are closed, there is a substantial reduction in exterior noise. The building is in an urban setting and with the windows closed, the outside noise is nearly completely eliminated. There is such a noticeable difference, that I have decided to have the product installed on my own home.

Bottom line, we were able to retain the original windows which are part of the character of the building, and provide performance which is most likely better than that which could have been achieved had we pursued a much more costly window replacement option.

My company specializes in the restoration of historic wooden windows and doors. Old windows are integral to the character and charm of any historic home and, with proper care, will outlast any replacement window. Many times our clients come to us with the problem of drafty old windows and are glad to hear a solution is possible without replacement. A key component to achieving our customers’ preservation and energy goals is the QUANTPANEL Insulating Glass System.

The QUANTAPANEL IGS truly represents the entire ethos of innovation at QUANTA. I occasionally encounter applications where minor modifications to a standard product are needed, a color match is necessary, or a special shape or configuration is required— QUANTA has always proven to be a huge resource. When it comes to historic restoration, every project is custom. For those in historic districts or for homeowners who find an interior window system to their liking, I recommend the QUANTAPANEL Interior Insulating Glass System. My clients are more comfortable year-round and feel good about preserving their little piece of history. The fact that I can offer both historic restoration and performance improvement has been a huge benefit to my business.

We specified the QUANTAPANEL System at the Phoenixville Public Library, the only Carnegie Library in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The selection of the QUANTAPANEL Window System on the exterior of the building was part of a larger renovation project. We selected the custom-colored, exterior QUANTAPANEL 500 System to improve the thermal performance and preserve the existing windows, which were repaired and repainted as part of the project. The project included a number of HVAC upgrades, and we anticipate that the combination of the window upgrades and HVAC improvements will have a favorable outcome on utility costs.

The success of this project led to the decision to use the QUANTAPANEL Architectural Low-e Storm Windows on my own home. In addition, we have specified both interior and exterior QUANTAPANEL Windows for the Colonial Theatre Expansion project in Phoenixville, which is currently under construction.

Our firm specializes in adaptive re-use of historic structures and sustainable design. The QUANTAPANEL System fills a definite need in the marketplace for a window retrofit system that provides exceptional performance and has aesthetics that far exceed conventional storm window products. We recommend the use of this technology for commercial and residential projects where the Owner wants to retain their original windows, and also wants to improve the thermal performance.

I am the Executive Director of the Chestnut Hill Historic Society (www.chhist.org), an organization that is dedicated to preserving the cultural resources of Chestnut Hill, one of America’s largest urban historic districts. Chestnut Hill was designated one of the top seven urban enclaves in the USA by Forbes.com, and selected as a Distinctive Destination by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Our offices are located in an 1850’s Victorian House. Like many historic structures, our building has beautiful original windows. From a comfort and energy standpoint, they were drafty and extremely uncomfortable for those of us who work in the building. We wanted to find a solution that would allow us to retain the beauty of our existing windows, from both the interior and exterior of the building, but provide the performance attainable with new windows. We selected the QUANTAPANEL Architectural Low-e Storm Window System for installation on the interior of our existing windows. The QUANTAPANEL Window System is nearly indistinguishable from the original windows, thus preserving the original design and architecture.

Historic property owners need a solution that will provide the technology of a new state-of-the-art window while retaining the original window. We believe the QUANTAPANEL System does just that. Part of our organization’s mission is to help property owner’s find innovative preservation solutions.
